Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness Review

Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness Review by Akshat Agarwal It is truly fascinating how the Internet has changed the film industry. Besides streaming services, far more publicized and accessible casting data means that people are able to predict with ease quite a few of the plot twists that a movie might attempt to have.  To Marvel’s credit, they do try to lean into this and by creating this massive cinematic universe, they have created a niche entertainment model wherein people will spend hours reviewing trailers and movies frame by frame to then speculate on what might be in the movie.  Unfortunately for Marvel, like all sciences, these YouTubers and TikTokers are getting rather good at speculating to the point where a lot of the twists of Multiverse of Madness fell short.  In an unfortunately more common occurrence with regards to Marvel movies, I find myself having mixed feelings for Doctor Strange. The CGI was a little disappointing and although we were supposed to see Sam

Moon Knight Review

Moon Knight by Akshat Agarwal If you know me, it’s no secret that I am a huge Batman fan. So I know what I am saying when I tell you that Moon Knight  did an amazing job of avoiding the Batman trap. In the comics, one of Moon Knight’s alters is Steven Grant, a wealthy businessman who finances Moon Knight’s crusade. Understandably, this makes it hard to distinguish Moon Knight from the Dark Knight. Additionally, when Moon Knight first started airing, The Batman  had been in theaters for a short time and so was fresh in everyone’s memory.  It was really a brilliant move on the Marvel Studios team to change up Steven Grant so people didn’t just take it to be Batman but wearing white. I will say, however, that my overall take on this show is a little mixed.  I really liked the beginning. We see the story from multiple different points of view. The show catches us off guard by introducing Steven, a British museum worker. We then get to meet Mark, a taciturn, tough ex-mercenary. Unfortunat

The Batman Review

Image
The Batman  by Akshat Agarwal There are few times when I have been happy to be wrong and the Batman was one of them. When the reviews started coming in for the Batman, I was incredibly nervous. I hadn’t heard of Matt Reeves before and Batman movies don’t have a great track record when it came to having more than 2 villains.  I wasn’t able to watch the movie until a week after it came out but all my friends told me that it was amazing. Obviously, this raised my hopes. Not to mention, the trailers were absolutely phenomenal.  After watching the movie, I could definitely see the inspiration that was drawn from Batman: The Long Halloween , especially with regards to Carmine Falcone and his relationship to Bruce as well as Thomas Wayne. ZoĆ« Kravitz’s Selina Kyle also draws some inspiration from The Long Halloween , being the illegitimate daughter of Carmine Falcone. I think that it was a really interesting to focus heavily on the character of Batman, but I do feel that it was at the expen

Peacemaker Review

Peace maker R eview Warning: SPOILERS! by Akshat Agarwal I’ll keep it brief: Peacemaker is pretty awesome.  Aside from a stacked cast and a diverse range of characters, James Gunn’s blend of humor and comic references is pretty brilliant.  This show has introduced me to some pretty cool comic book characters that I didn’t know existed before like Judomaster.  What I liked and what I loved (there wasn’t anything I didn’t like): 1)   LIKE - MUSIC I thought that the music was incredibly catchy.  It featured a lot of 80s rock and the two songs that I added to my playlist were “Monster” by Reckless Love and the title song, “Do Ya Wanna Taste It” by Wig Wam.  Speaking of the title sequence … 2)   LOVE - TITLE SEQUENCE The title sequence was the most amusing I have seen from a TV show in a while. I didn’t skip it once.  If you watch carefully, you can see Judomaster hiding in the background of some parts of the song.  The choreography was also well-executed considering that it was filmed in

Hawkeye Review

Hawkeye Review WARNING: SPOILERS  by Akshat Agarwal When Die Hard came out, it sparked a debate whether the Bruce Willis action movie could be counted as a Christmas movie.  It obviously is (you can see gift exchanges, snow, a redemption arc, an office holiday party), but every year there will be those losers who think it isn’t.  I predict that this kind of debate will begin to pop up over Hawkeye. Is it a Christmas series? Absolutely it is. Besides being about family and doing what is right, there are appearances by the Rockefeller tree and an office holiday party. If I am being very honest, I didn’t really have high expectations for Hawkeye, but then again I don’t think anyone really did. Interestingly, Marvel made efforts to address this in the show. The show was very good, but not Spider-Man good. I’d say it was a solid 7/10. Let’s get into what was great and what wasn’t. 1)   KATE BISHOP- GREAT To the joy of many fans, particularly fanboys, Hailee Steinfeld brought the character

No Way Home Review

No Way Home Review WARNING: SPOILERS  by Akshat Agarwal I don’t think I hate a movie quite as much as I hate NWH, just because I can only watch it for the first time once.  I’m not exaggerating when I say that it is literally the best Marvel movie ever and honestly one of the best movies of all time.  Before I get into the nitty-gritty, let’s check which predictions were right and which one’s weren’t. Also, I will be distinguishing the multiple Spider-Men (yes, there were multiple) by using their actors’ names. 1)   ANDREW AND TOBEY   Right off the bat, I was very wrong about these two. They are very much in the movie and it is way more than 20 minutes of screen time.  I honestly cannot think of another time when I was this happy to be wrong. From the minute these guys enter, the movie excellently blends these characters’ stories together. Tobey and Andrew both portray the best parts of their Spider-Men and their interactions with each other and Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is equal parts

No Way Home Predictions

Spider-Man: No Way Home Predictions by Akshat Agarwal Pre-Viewing Thoughts:  I am writing before I watch Spider-Man: No Way Home to share my predictions.    SPOILER ALERT: My guesses are so good, it might as well be the actual movie. Check out my predictions below 1) ANDREW AND TOBEY Andrew and Tobey are NOT in the movie. As cool and exciting as it would be to have them in the movie, I just don’t see it happening. We’ve been seeing all the hype around this, but the actors themselves have repeatedly asserted that they have not been contacted about the movie. Honestly they attested to this so much that you start to feel bad for Andrew. He’s out trying to promote Tick, Tick, BOOM! and everyone’s harassing him about this movie. I know a lot about NWH has been hush hush but they’re not in it *In the case that I am very wrong and they are in it, I think it will be a short cameo in a post-credits scene or something along those lines.  No more than 20 minutes of screen time. (The three Spide
